Marty and Mervyna made the draws for all events yesterday afternoon using some Tournament Planner Software so don’t blame them if you think you got a rough draw! Established in 1899, Bangor Lawn Tennis Club.

You can find us at the top of Farnham Park which is not too far off the Bryansburn Road in Bangor, Co Down. We have six Artificial Grass courts, 3 of which are equipped with Floodlights so we can play all through the long winter evenings.

The standard at Bangor Lawn Tennis Club is mixed so there’s no need to feel daunted if you’re new to the game or you haven’t played for a while.
Our Club Coach, Tim Blomley, offers coaching to beginners so even if you’ve never played before, you can join the club and start enjoying the game. We also have regular club sessions for social play held on Monday and Wednesday evenings and Saturday afternoons.

More experienced players will find plenty of challenges too. We have teams entered in the Belfast and District Leagues, including Evergreens (Veterans). We run a Singles Ladder for the more energetic, as well as the occasional social tournament and the annual club championships.

Numbers joining the junior section are also on the up and we have a number of boys and girls teams playing in the Winter and Summer Leagues. We have a programme of activities including regular coaching and squad practice all under the direction of our highly experienced Junior Coaches, providing ample opportunities for our 6 to 18 year olds to enjoy and develop their game.

In this sometimes over-competitive age, friendly tennis clubs can be hard to find. However, the friendly attitude of the club cannot be emphasised too strongly, as our members are well aware that joining a new club can be a daunting prospect.

Just like 2009 the tournament proved to be a huge success with 197 entries across all events (an increase of 11% on 2009). The Junior Competitors ranged in ages from 12 to 18 and many family members and friends took time to come down and support the players making the Club an extremely busy place to be be for the [...]]]> 16 to 20 August saw Bangor L.T.C. host the second Wilson Nesbitt North Down Junior Championships. The match will be played on the evening of Monday 21st June and will require 3 courts.

The 3 remaining courts will be available for club play as usual. This is a really important match for the girls and we really appreciate the Member’s cooperation.
